The Christmas Pageant (& other Christmas pics)

Now playing...Christmas Eve performance...
The Christmas Pageant
Starring Adelaide Lanz as Baby Jesus
Christ Episcopal Church, Shaker Heights

Mom carried her out on stage and placed her in Mary's arms.

And how, you may ask, did she do in her theatrical debut? She looked like this - asleep.

Here she is with the rest of the cast.

Here's Addy meeting some of the other "cast" members - the stubborn donkey and an alpaca named Bob.

And here's Mom, showing off her Christmas angel.

We had a wonderful Christmas morning at home - here's Addy with Daddy, both looking very festive.

And one of Addy's Christmas presents this year - her very own stocking.

Tummy time on wrapping paper. It crinkles :)

Addy makes great faces. Here's her "Christmas face." Who even knew you could make your lips do that???

Happy Holidays! Love, the Lanz family.

Meeting More Family

One of the best things about having a baby at the holidays is it makes it even easier for Addy to meet lots more of her family members.

Here's Addy with Grandpa John and Lizzie.

Addy with Uncle Jay and Aunt Carrie...

Addy with her Great-Grandpa & Great-Grandma Thompson...

Four generations...one couch...(from left to right, Dad, Great-Grandpa Thompson, Addy, Great-Grandma Thomspon, and Grandma Sherry).

What do you do in a snowstorm?

What do you do in a typical Cleveland snowstorm? You lounge around the house and stay warm. While our first snowstorm of the year may not have brought much accumulation, it did bring blustry winds and snowy white-out's. Addy and her crew spent the time staying warm by the fireplace and enjoying hot chocolate.

Here's Addy in one of her many "drama queen" poses :)

Addy with Grandpa Russ (in one of Addy's favorite spots - snuggled up on someone's chest, legs tucked way up under her belly, and hands under her face)...

Addy & Daddy (again, snuggled)...

Nothing like a warm fire on a cold winter's day...

And Addy cuddling with Mom...

My First Week

On Saturday, Adelaide turned one...one week old, that is. And isn't she cute?

Her parents sure think so. She's the most beautiful thing we've ever seen and has already brought so much happiness to our lives.

In honor of her birthday, we celebrated with itty bitty little petite fours. Here's Addy trying to grab one for herself.

Addy had a lot of firsts this past week. She spent a lot more time hanging out with Uncle Sean....

And got to meet Uncle Chad for the first time.

She rode in her swing for the first time and seemed to love it. She moves her arms and hands around almost as if she's conducting the music that plays along with the swing.

And she had her first "tummy time." Have you seen anything cuter? (Again, her parents are writing this, so no matter what anyone else thinks, she's positively the cutest thing in our eyes).

Indy is becoming more and more used to having Addy in our lives. She regularly checks in on her to make sure she's okay. It's a little more difficult to do when Addy's in the swing - Indy's gotten hit in the nose a few times but still just wants to give Addy a little kiss on the cheek.

All in all, it's been a great week. And we promise to post again soon.

Love,

Jenn, Graham, Addy & Indy

Settling In

Adelaide is quickly making herself at home and hiring a staff.

She has her own bodyguard (her 'big sister' Indy)....

.....and a personal assistant (dad) to bring her coffee, rock her cradle, and read her the paper....

....and she has been showered with flowers and well-wishes from friends and family. She's pretty lucky!

And she's still as cute as ever!

(Addy rocking in a cradle made by Graham's Uncle Bern when he was a baby with Graham's favorite childhood stuffed animal "Charlie").

Our (extended) stay at University Hospitals

What had intially been planned as a quick couple of days turned into nearly a week. Following the C-section, Addy and Jenn were both considered at risk for infection. Things took a turn for the scary when, out of nowhere, Adelaide had a coughing/choking episode and turned blue. Thanks to quick action by her grandmas and the exceptional nurses at MacDonald Womens Hospital, she was quickly cared for. Unfortunately, it bought her a ticket straight to the NICU at Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital (right on the other side of the cafeteria, for you non-Clevelanders), where she was plugged into a variety of machines.

Scary as this experience was, it made us appreciate how lucky we were. Adelaide was by far the healthiest baby in the NICU and nearly four times the weight of some of her neighbors.

We were enormously grateful to the NICU staff, who discharged her Monday. We were free to go home the following day. It was a typical December day...windy and in the 20's, so Addy was bundled up nice and snug!

If you needed proof that Graham is now officially a father, consider that he drove home 5mph under the speed limit the whole way!

Adelaide's Arrival

After 2 1/2 days in the hospital, 12 hours of active labor, and a C-section, Adelaide Weinman Lanz made her arrival into the world on December 1, 2007 at 2:52am. She weighed in at 8lbs, 4oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. And, of course, was absolutely beautiful.

After all that wait, Mom was sure excited to see her.

The grandparents in Cleveland were great supporters. They stayed at the hospital all Friday and well into Saturday morning.

Stay tuned for the details of her hospital stay.
